Fashon Show and Magic Land

Quick story- I was watching TV with my host mother, Fanta, when a commercial came on advertising a fashion show. Fanta said pointing to one of the models, "That's my cousin." Later she presented a ticket to the show, and Saturday night that week after a quick dinner, we finished putting ourselves together for a night out on the town. Boss lady was in on it too. Here we are with Fanta's brother Bamba, and a friend of his before the show. As we entered the building, there were numerous photographers asking us to pose for them. Indeed, we were the models. During the show they were able to develop these

photos and sell them to us, convenient eh??? Here I am with Fanta, her friend and Muhammad before leaving the house.
So Dakar's posh slowly filled in, dressed in their finest. The show, scheduled to start at 8, began around 10:30 so we had time to take in the atmosphere.
Featured were various acts including comedians and traditional music performances- but people were there to see the models. And oh did they rock it. I've never been to a fashion show, so it was a spectacle for me. It was hard to get a good shot with the lighting, but I managed to snag this one. Afterwards, boss lady and I went clubbing. I mean it was 12:30, and we were already dressed up. What else were we going to do?
In other Special Events, we celebrated Muhammad's birthday with a trip to Magic Land, Dakar's famed theme park. Boss lady and I gave Fanta some free time and took the kids out. Strangely, however, when we arrived, there was hardly anyone there- but that didn't stop us from having a good time. They were easy to please for the most part, except for a few instances. Cher got jealous that Muhammad got to ride the mini 4-wheelers, but was told he was too small. After he started crying, the guy felt bad and let him ride- but this was a disaster waiting to happen. On his first lap, as he made his way around, he gunned it for some reason towards the exit, and thankfully ran into a fence. After some tears, and a walk around the track all was well phewwwww! I like kids but I'm glad I don't have any...

But what about the shoes? What kind of SHOES did they wear? Did you get the package for your family over there? Love Mom

Fanta is not what I expected in a host "mother." She is not old enough to be YOUR mother!

That's a good point Mariah. She is actually my host sister, technically. But its hard to think of her that way, I guess.

Thanks Mariah:) How "old" am I ????Anyway, Fanta is beautiful. I hope she likes the cards I sent. Mom

Christine, I am sorry if that came out wrong! I meant that Fanta looks to be about 30 years old and therefore Jordan is a little old to be her son...see how I turned that around?
Jordan I am glad that you have a mother/sister over there to keep you in line and take you to "fashon" shows. : )
