Important documents to be familiarized with
Local currency, CFA, pronounced "sefa"- about 500 to one dollar. No one breaks a 10,000 although that's what the ATM spits out. A cab ride to school is 700-1000 depending on your negotiating skills. You can get a good meal for between 1000 and 4000. Toiletries are comparatively expensive, and in many cases, cheaper in the states- always have toilet paper or kleenex on you for obvious reasons. Prices on local jewelry, clothes, shoes, bags ect. vary according to negotiation abilities of the tubab and the determination of the particular hustler, hmmm hmmm, I mean vendor.
