Beach Time

On any given day before the official start of the semester one found groups of tubabs infiltrating the beaches of Dakar. Above the tubabs play volleyball and get a tan after a dip in the ocean. In the background, Senegal's port industry is visible- (hence the water is not always so clear, although it seems that I am alone in griping about this)

This beach is called Monaco. It is nice due to the marked absence of vendors, and you feel that your stuff is safe when your swimming. This comes with a price- about $2 entry fee. Along the beach are well cut Senegalese men, some of whom wrestle or do pushups in the sand together. The Senegalese, by and large are very beautiful, and the women on the beach make the lady tubabs a bit self- conscious. (Above one notices the difference between the average Senegalese and American man.) Below is a weight machine, although I took this picture more for the colorful wall.

This woman walked right into my picture of the beach
